Governments and regulated industries need to provide secure credentials to their employees, partners and vendors so that the organization’s facilities, IT systems and cloud applications are secure. A secure credential is only effective if it is given to the right, trustworthy person.

HID PIV (Personal Identity Verification) IDMS (Identity Management System) delivers a comprehensive, highly configurable solution to perform identity proofing. It also conveniently and securely issues credentials - even to remote users.

PIV IDMS enables organizations to comply with PIV, PIV-I and NIST 800-63-3 Identity Assurance Level 3, OMB M-04-04 Level of Assurance 4 standards. Coupled with ActivID® Credential Management System, PIV IDMS can issue credentials with digital certificates, one-time password generators, fingerprint and biographic data.

The flexibility of the solution enables organizations that don’t need to comply strictly with government mandates to decide which functions to implement and what data to capture as well as customize the form factor of the credential (e.g. smart card or USB key).

PIV IDMS can connect to external background check systems to look up and compile criminal records, commercial records and financial records of the applicant, including to the US Office of Personnel Management, Federal Investigative Services (OPM-FIS).

Once the application is approved, PIV IDMS can securely print and issue the credentials. Card inventory controls ensure only authorized credentials can be printed by authorized print stations. The activation process leverages a secure channel, and offers the option of fingerprint verification to initialize. This provides the ability to activate remotely without sacrificing overall security.

Self-service and full lifecycle management also enables secure remote update and de-provisioning of the credentials by users and administrators when necessary.
